On September 15th, 1999, Susan Kimberly Jones drove miles across Fort Worth, Texas past many other churches, down several subdivision streets to reach Wedgwood Baptist Church shortly after a last, "See You At The Pole" rally had started for the youth group from many area churches. That night, a disturbed man killed 7 people - 3 adults and 4 teenagers including Kim Jones. Kim was an incredible 23 year old seminary student, whose life had been completely devoted to her Lord. In the spring of 1999, after graduating from TCU, she had gone to The Netherlands as a short-term missionary to youth.
Her impromptu 6-minute testimony was audio duped during her first service there, click here to listen. That summer she directed the youth group at her home fellowship in the Middle East. On the final weekend before all the youth return to their schools out of the country, they are responsible for the services and the youth director gives the sermon. This was Kim's one and only sermon. It was miraculously preserved on video in spite of the precautions normally taken in this closed country. God had a purpose to plan for Kim's life far beyond the confines of one woman speaking in one location to a limited group of people. Her sermon that day was entitled, "The Path of Purpose". You can see and hear Kim share passionately about her faith and her future on the video.
Also on the video, Al Meredith, Pastor of Wedgwood Baptist Church, tells the story of the shooting, while we are taken on a tour of the church. It includes messages and video of the events of that day, which are visually compelling. Family and friends tell how Kim's life impacted their own as well as many others.
This video is one that you will want to view again and again for its message is always relevant and challenging. It can be used as a witnessing tool, as a challenge or for inspiration to men, women, children and teenagers. We urge you to get a video to share with your friends, family and neighbors and a copy for your church group to use in women's bible studies, youth meetings or small groups.
The video is only $6.95 USD plus shipping & handling. All proceeds from the sale of "Going Home" are donated to missionaries around the world. Click here for ordering information. Click here for segment descriptions of the video.
